We want you to have time together as a family. If you find that your child is really struggling with the work, or is spending a lot more time than indicated to do the work, please talk to us. We can modify assignments or make arrangements for students to get tutoring after school. Our goal is for younger students to learn good study habits and for parents to be connected with what their children are learning at school, not to destroy your evenings. Our high school students are required to put in a certain amount of time in each course in order to earn units towards graduation.
What help is available to us?
1. All middle school and high school students carry an organizer that teachers help them write down assignments and due dates in. Ask to see it regularly.
2. Online tutoring for math is available at www.hotmath.com.
3. Major assignments often get posted on our website with rubrics, due dates and other info. Calling a friend for information is also a good idea. E-mailing the teacher at laureltree_lc@yahoo.com is another way to clarify things. Calling a teacher at home is NOT a good idea.
4. Snapgrades will show you what assignments are missing and what grades your child received on assignments turned in.
When are assignments due?
1. Reading logs for the whole school are due on Monday.
2. P.E. logs for 5-12th graders are due on Monday.
3. High school/middle school math is always due the day after it is assigned and can be done after school in the math lab (M-Th). If it’s late, it's graded one grade lower. If it’s not in that same week, it’s not accepted.
4. Math homework for the primary grades is due on Monday.
